Even like me you stay at home it is nice to have a flashlight. Sometime we have power cuts at home and you need to have lighting to find the fault.

This radio is made for outdoor activities but you can use also at home. The antenna i think is a little bit too short but its strong. You can make a antenna to listen DX radios stations on SW

Jay Allen have make many articles about radio receivers for listeners.

For old man like me born in the 50s i prefer a simple radio, not too many buttons and functionality. I like just listen the radio stations in FM, AM on MW and SW. I dont need a lot of gadgets but the light, the hand crank and the possibility to charge a smartphone is very important.

My advice for this radio receiver XHDATA D-608WB

Its a nice receiver, especially if you will use it outdoor, no worry because battery are low. You have many ways to have energy...  Of course, you can use at home, in your kitchen when madame prepares the dinner ! Or as an SWL on your desk to try to find a DX station. Price is OK. I like XHDATA/SIHUADON because they can ship to many countries in the world.

I think a very good point for this nice D-608 is the USB Output for charging Cell Phones.

Now even in poor countries all people have a smartphone. They have no computer and internet. its more easy to have a smartphone because they are a lot of antenna relay to cover the world.
