Shortwave radio stations are in decline in 2026 ?

I started to listen to SW radio stations in 1981 and it was wonderful: lots of countries, radio stations, and nice paper QSL cards. Also, many pirate radio stations and clandestine radios. Now in 2026 even in poor countries many people have smartphones. Some countries can have access to international internet websites, so SW is the only way to have free information. I think listeners of SW radios can try to listen MW radios, beacons on MW, amateur radio bands, utility stations, etc. 

LOOK 1106 radio stations on tropical bands in 1973 and only 66 in 2023 !!!!!
